Noted for her rich tone and compelling musicality, bassoonist Laura Miller has performed around the world as a soloist, and chamber and orchestral musician. Laura soloed with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra after winning the 2011 Asian Double Reed Association Competition. She was a featured "Emerging Artist" at the 2012 Victoria Bach Festival in Texas and a finalist in the 2012 Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox International Bassoon Competition and the 2010 Meg-Quigley Vivaldi Competition. In 2008, Laura embarked on a European tour with the University of Texas Wind Ensemble, performing throughout Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, England, and Spain. While at UT, she performed under the batons of faculty including Jerry Junkin, Scott Hanna, Gerhardt Zimmermann, and Dan Welcher; and on the national scene under such conductors as Carl St. Clair, Lior Shambadal, John Adams, Gerard Schwarz, Henk Guittart, and Frederick Fennell. Laura can be heard on Naxo Blu-Ray Audio, Mark Masters Records, Ravello, and Codaex labels performing in woodwind quintet the City of Tomorrow, chamber orchestra Gruppo Montebello, and University of Texas ensembles. Since moving to Europe she has recorded on the Savary classical bassoon several times, including two Simon Mayr operas for the Naxos label.
